Erhu Players in Hengshui Set Guinness World Record

More than 2,000 students playing the erhu in a mass performance set a Guinness World Record on Saturday morning.
The 2,024 students played the two-stringed Chinese musical instrument at a school in Hengshui, North China's Hebei Province, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of erhu players in a performance, according to Luo Qiong, a certification officer for Guinness World Records.

The primary and middle school students played two songs in five minutes and 16 seconds at the No 2 Middle School stadium in Raoyang County.
Zhao Zihan, one of the primary students, said the event encouraged her interest in learning to play traditional Chinese musical instruments.
The new erhu player said she spent more than two months learning the two songs.
